Plain language

The words we use, defined without the jargon.

A plain-language glossary of the e-commerce, integration, and sales-systems terms behind what we build and run. If a definition raises a question about your own stack, that is exactly what the first call is for.

E-commerce and sales-systems terms

301 redirect map
A complete, hand-verified list that points every old URL to its new home during a migration, so search rankings carry across to the new platform instead of dropping. It is the single most important piece of preserving SEO when you replatform.
Attribution
Recording which campaign, web order, phone close, rep, dealer, or partner created and closed each sale, so credit is assigned by an auditable rule instead of guessed or argued over. Operational attribution is accurate enough to pay commission on, unlike aggregate analytics.
B2B e-commerce
Online selling built for business buyers rather than consumers: account-specific and contract pricing, net terms, purchase orders, approval workflows, and bulk ordering, wired to the ERP behind the store.
Care plan
An ongoing, tiered plan under which we run, monitor, secure, and improve a store and the systems behind it after launch, against a roadmap, so it does not drift back toward the neglected state most sites end up in.
Channel conflict
The friction that arises when a company sells direct, for example online, to customers its own reps, dealers, or distributors also serve. Without a system that records who created each sale, a direct order credits no one and erodes the trust of the channel that sells for you.
Commission system
The system that calculates and pays commissions, splits, overrides, spiffs, and clawbacks by rules every payee can audit, with each payout traced to the rule that produced it, instead of a month-end spreadsheet nobody trusts.
Conversion Audit
Our free working session that traces how a sale moves through a store and the systems behind it — the code, plugins, integrations, performance, and hosting cost — and where credit or data falls out of sync, ending in a documented, prioritized plan that is yours to keep either way.
Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO)
The work of getting more of a store’s existing visitors to complete a purchase by fixing the funnel, checkout, product pages, page speed, and the systems behind the store, measured against real orders and revenue rather than vanity metrics.
CPQ (Configure, Price, Quote)
Software that lets a buyer configure a complex product, prices it correctly, and produces a quote. We build custom quote tools for products too configurable for a fixed-price cart, so buyers self-serve an accurate quote and the sales team gets a structured lead.
CRM
Customer Relationship Management software that holds customer and deal records. We wire the store to the CRM so orders and accounts flow into it as the system of record, instead of being re-keyed by hand.
ERP integration
Connecting an online store to the Enterprise Resource Planning system that runs inventory, orders, pricing, and finance, so the data reconciles automatically instead of being re-typed. The part most agencies avoid, and the part we specialize in.
Headless commerce
An architecture that decouples a store’s front end from its commerce back end for more performance and flexibility, at higher cost and complexity. It pays off for specific needs, and most stores that want it do better on a well-built native stack.
Lead routing
Rules that get every inquiry to the right rep the moment it arrives, by territory, product line, or account ownership, so no opportunity dies in a shared inbox or waits on someone remembering to check email.
Migration (replatforming)
Moving a store from one e-commerce platform to another while preserving rankings, order and customer data, and the integrations behind it, instead of rebuilding from zero and taking the traffic cliff that DIY connectors cause.
PunchOut and EDI
Procurement standards that let business buyers order through their own purchasing systems: PunchOut catalogs hand the buyer back to your store to build an order, and EDI documents (such as 850, 810, 856) exchange purchase orders, invoices, and shipping notices with the ERP.
Quote tool
A self-serve builder that lets a buyer assemble the configurable products and quantities they need and submit one structured quote request, instead of a fixed-price cart that cannot express real configuration. Every quote flows into the CRM so the pipeline stays complete.
Siren
Our own commission and attribution engine, built into a client’s stack and run for them. It credits and pays every selling surface, and the rules and data stay exportable and yours, so you are never locked in. It is a layer clients grow into, not where an engagement starts.
Store takeover
Adopting an inherited, often undocumented store that nobody can safely change, then making it legible, fast, and cheaper to run, on infrastructure the client owns. We turned a five-store WooCommerce stack from a vendor black box into one the client controls, and cut hosting from about $2,900 a month to about $80.
System of record
The single system designated as the authoritative source for a given piece of data, so the store, CRM, ERP, and finance reconcile against it instead of all telling a different story. Defining one per field is the governance most connector setups skip.
