How we start, free
Start with a working session.
Sit down with a senior engineer who runs this kind of business. We work through what you’re trying to do, the problems you’ve been carrying, and the options you may not know you have. You leave knowing what’s actually possible and where to start. No charge, and no obligation.
- A clear read on the real problem
- The options you may not have known about
- A path to solve it, and what it would take
- Yours to keep, with no obligation
Businesses we’ve built and run systems for
What it is
An hour with the person who’d actually build it.
Most first calls are a pitch on a clock. This isn’t that. It’s time with a senior engineer who has built and run this kind of work, thinking about your business with you. No deck, nothing to sign, and no charge.
A lot of what we do best starts here, with a problem a founder has been turning over for months. People come in asking about one thing and leave seeing options they didn’t know were on the table. That conversation is where the right build comes from.
How it runs
One conversation, and you leave with a path
- 1
Bring what’s on your mind
Tell us what you’re trying to do and the problem you’ve been carrying, even if it’s still fuzzy. You don’t need a spec, a budget, or a technical background.
- 2
We think it through together
We dig into how your business actually works, where the friction is, and the options you have, including ones you may not know exist. You’re talking to the senior person who would do the work.
- 3
You leave with a path
A clear read on the real problem and how to solve it, plus a sense of what it would take. If there’s work to do, we scope it after at a fixed price you approve. If not, you still keep the map.
What you walk away with
You leave better off, even if you never hire us
Clarity on the real problem
Often the thing you came in with isn’t the thing actually holding you back. We find what is, in plain terms.
Options you didn’t know you had
The technical and commercial moves available to you, including the ones most people never get told about.
A path and a rough shape
What it would take to solve it, where to start, and what it might cost, so you can decide with eyes open.
Who it’s for
If any of these sound like you, the hour is worth it.
- You’ve got a problem you’ve been turning over for months and haven’t cracked.
- You’re not sure your website can actually do what your business needs.
- You’ve been quoted by people who didn’t understand how you really sell.
- You inherited a site or a system you’re afraid to touch.
- Your team is re-keying orders, quotes, or leads by hand.
- You suspect there’s a better way to run this, you just can’t see it yet.
The fine print, up front
What the working session isn’t
Every reason people hesitate to book a call, answered before you ask.
No charge
The first working session is free. Paid work, if any, is scoped after at a fixed price you approve before anything starts.
No pitch
You talk to the engineer who would do the work, not a salesperson with a quota. If we’re not a fit, we’ll tell you.
No obligation
You leave with a clear read and a path whether or not you ever hire us. The map is yours to keep.
No jargon
Plain language, start to finish. You don’t need a spec or a technical background to get value from the hour.
You own everything
Anything we go on to build is yours, documented and never locked in. No black box, no hostage situation.
Senior, not a junior
The person on the call is the person who would own the build, with more than a decade of doing exactly this.
Who you’re talking to
You get the senior engineer, on the first call.
Every working session is led by Alex Standiford, who has spent more than a decade building serious web platforms and shipping enterprise software to tens of thousands of users.
He goes deep on the technical without losing sight of the business it serves, which is exactly what makes the hour useful: you get a straight read from someone who has solved this before, not a discovery script from a junior.
-
Hundreds of builds
From simple sites to e-commerce handling more than a million visits a day.
-
Enterprise-grade software
Shipped and kept running for tens of thousands of users.
-
Founder on the call
The person who scopes it is the person who owns it. No handoff to a stranger.
Questions
Everything you might be wondering
Is this a sales call?
No. It’s a working session with the senior person who would do the work, spent on your business and what’s possible. If we’re a fit, we’ll say so. If we’re not, you still leave with a clearer picture and a path.
What does it cost?
Nothing. The first working session is free. If there’s real work to do afterward, we scope it at a fixed price you approve before anything starts. No open-ended hourly bills.
What’s the catch if it’s free?
No catch. The best builds we’ve done started from a real conversation, so the session pays for itself when it turns into work, and when it doesn’t, you still leave with something useful. We’d rather earn the build than gate the conversation.
I don’t have a clear problem or a spec yet. Is it still worth it?
That’s exactly when it’s worth it. Bring the fuzzy thing you’ve been turning over. A big part of the session is figuring out what the real problem even is, before anyone talks about building anything.
I’m not technical. Will I be out of my depth?
No. We talk in plain language about your business, not in jargon. You don’t need to know anything technical; that’s our job.
Will you pressure me to buy something?
No. There’s nothing to sign and no quota on the call. You decide what happens next, on your timeline. The map is yours either way.
Are you even the right kind of firm for my problem?
We build the systems behind how businesses sell online: storefronts, quote tools, dealer routing, integrations, and the sales systems behind them. If your problem isn’t something we should take on, we’ll tell you that on the call and point you in a better direction.
Is what I share kept private?
Yes. Anything you tell us stays between us. We don’t share it, and we’re happy to sign an NDA if you’d like one before we go deep.
How long does it take, and what do I need to prepare?
Plan for about 45 minutes. You don’t need to prepare anything. Just bring the problem and a sense of how your business runs today.
I’ve been burned by a developer or agency before. Why is this different?
You’re talking to the senior person who’d own the work, not a salesperson or a junior who’ll quit. Anything we build is yours, documented and never locked in, and we scope to a fixed price so there are no surprise invoices.
