# Novatorius

 /ˌnōvəˈtôrēəs/

*noun* Latin

1. an *innovator*; one who makes new, who renews the way a thing is done rather than decorating the way it already works.
2. in practice designing freedom into the systems beneath how you sell, so the work accounts for itself instead of needing someone to stand over it.

from Latin *novāre* “to make new, renew,” from *novus* “new,” the root of *innovate*.

In everything we do, we believe

## work should adapt to life, *not the other way around*.

Technology made it possible to work from anywhere, on your own terms. Most of business spent that possibility on the opposite: tighter systems, more oversight, more ways to prove you were in your seat. We think that’s a bad trade. Control is what you reach for when you don’t trust your people, and it costs you their best work.

We believe people do their best work when they’re free to choose when, where, and how they do it. Not because they have to. Because they want to.

So we don’t treat freedom as a perk we add at the end. We design it into every system we build, so excellence becomes the path of least resistance instead of something you have to stand over and enforce. Freedom is the foundation everything else sits on.

Where this comes from

## The founder of Novatorius once spent his afternoons watching a clock.

Alex has always been wickedly productive. Early in his career, he’d finish a full day’s work by two, then sit at his desk until five because leaving wasn’t allowed. The company measured the chair, not the work, and it made him miserable, like being punished for being productive. He knew there had to be a better way.

He found his way to companies that did the opposite. They said “I trust you to get it done,” and meant it. His family spent four years crossing the country in a camper while he worked four or five hours a day from wherever they’d parked, and it was the best work of his career. He cared more, and it showed, because that work was what bought the life he loved.

> Most people want to do great work. Trust them, give them what they need, and get out of the way, and they will.

He saw it in the people around him, too. At those companies they were happier, friendlier, more productive, and insanely talented. No coincidence: the most capable people he knew all found their way to the same kind of place, trusted and left to do the work.

He built Novatorius to celebrate that, and to work with more people like him. Give them the freedom, and the excellence comes with it. What he found along the way turned out to have a name.

What we found has a name

## Mente Nova

 /ˈmentā ˈnōvə/

*phrase* Latin

1. with a *new mind*; the shift from running on control to running on trust: seeing work not as hours to be supervised, but as outcomes to be freed.
2. in practice the mind Novatorius was built on, and designs into every system: change the thinking, and the old oversight simply becomes unnecessary.

from Latin *mente* “with the mind” (from *mens*, “mind”) + *nova* “new,” kin to *Novatorius*; both grow from *novus*, “new.”

How we work

## What the new mind looks like in practice.

We hire people we trust, and leave them to it. No counting hours, no check-ins to confirm work is happening. We hand people the context and authority to act, then judge the work by what it produces. You get the same: no relationship to manage, just results you can see.

We give people what they need, then get out of the way. People who care about their craft mostly need a clear path and the right tools. We give them both, then step back. The work that comes back beats anything oversight would have produced.

We push back when it counts. Autonomy cuts both ways. People who care about the outcome don’t quietly ship something they think is wrong. We tell you what we see, make the case, and let you decide. The judgment is most of what you’re paying for.

Freedom runs on accountability. Freedom without accountability is just chaos. It holds together because everyone knows exactly what “done” looks like and gets there. That’s what makes the trust affordable.

And so we build

## We build what your business runs on.

The work takes a different shape for every client. Underneath, it’s always the same: we build the system your business depends on, and we build it to a standard most teams can’t sustain.

That bar isn’t optional for us. Working free and async only holds together when everything around it is tight. So we stay ahead of problems, communicate more clearly than most teams bother to, protect everyone’s time, and sit with a problem long enough to understand it before reaching for a solution.

The freedom forces the discipline, and the discipline is what reaches you: a solution you can rely on, built by people who couldn’t work any other way.

Who does the work, and what you get

## The way we run Novatorius puts the best people *on your build*.

Freedom is also how we hire. The best people can work anywhere, and the firms that count hours keep losing them. We built ours so they’d want to stay. The people on your build are outstanding, and it shows in the work.

So here’s what you’re actually buying

## Senior people at their peak, on your problem.

A small team of exceptional people, each trusted to own their part and organized enough that the parts add up. They’re senior, happy, and deeply good at what they do.

No junior bench, ever

### The people who scope it are the people who build it.

The senior people who plan your build are the ones who build it. You’re never handed down to whoever was free that week.

Their best work, not their hours

### You buy output from people at their pinnacle.

Trusted and unwatched is exactly what produces work people are proud of. That’s what lands on your side.

Runs without supervision

### A system you never have to stand over.

We design freedom into the build so it accounts for itself. It doesn’t need us watching it, or you.

Track record

## The person leading your project has built at every scale.
